Despite coming away from the first weekend of the season pointless Invicta sent out a message to the rest of the league that they are not there just to make up the numbers. A tough draw saw them up against 3 of last seasons top 4. In their first game back in the top flight they gave Bristol, the current British Champions, a real scare but fell short losing 11-8.  Judging by other results Invicta should be looking for maximum points in 2 weeks at Manchester. 14/09/08 - Pat- Marlins impress on their 2nd division debut

3 points from the first weekend of the season was a very solid start from the young Marlins squad. The highlight was a convincing win over, last years runners up, Solihull. This was backed up with a draw against local rivals Sutton.

An impressive two wins and a draw in Manchester saw Invicta move up the table and set a new club record with the most points in a division 1 weekend. Comfortable wins over Portobello and Poly was followed by a nail-biting draw with the Welsh Wanderers.  At 9-9 with 3 seconds on the clock Nick “Hot Shot” Jackson intelligently secured a point by dumping the ball on the 10m diving board and depriving the Welsh any chance of a counter.

After a convincing win over south east rivals Poly, Invicta pushed Cheltenham  (a top 3 side last season) right to the wire. 12/12/08 - Invicta keep deep water dream alive

A 7th place finish keeps the prospect of a deep waters debut a serious possibility. It now depends on the Scottish champions declining their place which whispers suggest is a real possibility thus leaving the door open for Invicta.
